Happy New Year from
Clarity Interpreting Services!

2008? Bring it on! It's a great time to reflect on what has brought the interpreting community to the present and consider future potential! 2007 was a tremendous year of growth and its impact will be felt well into the future. Not only have we made much progress in the emerging fields of multimedia interpreting and video remote interpreting, but the interpreting community continues to evolve in very positive ways. Read on for the details.

Sincerely,

Michelle J. Monahan

Video Remote Interpreting

We are excited to announce that Clarity has been providing Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) services in and out of state to a number of consumers. Several of Clarity's interpreters have participated using either Apple's iSight or a D-Link videophone. This service is available by request.

Featured Provisional Interpreter

Abby Coyer, Clarity's featured provisional interpreter, has been a great addition to the Clarity roster. A child of deaf adults, Abby recently moved here from California eager to pursue her career as a professional sign language interpreter. She has a strong foundation and is working diligently to improve her skills daily. She has passed her NIC written test, and Clarity looks forward to being a part of her continued growth.

Multi Media Interpreting

Clarity provides translation services from audio CDs to DVDs! The technology to do this seamlessly is available in the Clarity office. If you currently do work for Clarity and are interested in getting samples of your work onto DVD for your portfolio, set up an appointment with Clarity to make it happen.

Check out what Clarity consumer Dr. Angel M. Ramos had to say: Michelle Monahan's interpretion of a voice CD was not only outstanding, she also made it enjoyable and easy to watch. Her signing kept us captivated til the end. I highly recommend her.

Arizona Licensure

As of October 1st Clarity only works with licensed interpreters. Currently all interpreters hold either a general or legal license and are nationally certified with the exception of one provisional interpreter at a time with the purpose of helping them achieve a general license.

Licensure Party

On October 7th Clarity hosted a celebration for current and incoming interpreters to share all of the exciting things happening in the field. At the event we discussed VRI and multimedia opportunities as well as showed off licenses and enjoyed each other's company. Thanks to all who attended!

RID NIC Test Preparation DVD

Michelle Monahan has provided training on preparation for the NIC Interview portion and, after noting high demand, has decided to make this training available on DVD. Keep an eye out for this exciting project to be available for loan or purchase later this year.
